What "basic strategy" actually minimizes
Basic strategy is the loss-minimizing play under standard rules. It does NOT overcome the house edge (about 0.5% with good rules) — you still lose money long-term. But it reduces the loss compared to gut-feel play by ~2-4×.

- Recreational players who want to play "the right way".
- Educators teaching decision-making under uncertainty.
- Card counters who need to know the baseline they're deviating from.
Limitations
- We implement a "Stand on 17" common-rules chart. Side-rule variations (surrender, insurance, etc.) require additional rules.
- Card-counting deviations (Illustrious 18 + Fab 4) are NOT included — the chart is for non-counters.
