What this tool is — and isn't

Craps is one of the fairest-feeling but math-wise most counter-intuitive casino games. The Pass Line has a 251/495 ≈ 1.41% house edge with no odds, which drops to nearly 0% with 100× odds (one of the best bets in any casino). This tool makes those numbers concrete.

Who uses it

  • Educators showing how house edge changes with bet choice.
  • Curious casino visitors who want to know if a "system" actually works.
  • Game-theory students analyzing the multi-roll structure.

Limitations

  • This is the math, not a betting recommendation. Craps is still −EV for the player on every bet.
  • "Max odds" varies by casino; we assume 100× for Don't Pass and 3-4-5× for Pass Line as common maxima.
  • Place bets, proposition bets, and hop bets are intentionally excluded — they have very high house edges (5–16%) and aren't worth computing precisely.

FAQ

Why does "Don't Pass" have lower house edge than "Pass Line"?

Don't Pass wins when Pass loses and vice versa, but the 12 on the come-out roll is a push (instead of Pass winning) — that one rule shifts about 1.36% to the house instead of 1.41%.
